The Department of Pediatrics is a powerhouse of academic achievement and high faculty morale, recognized as the best teaching department for 28 of the last 31 years. The department comprises 18 subspecialty divisions and a freestanding Children's Hospital, delivering 151,000 patient encounters, 7,500 admissions, and over 35,000 emergency room visits each year. Opportunities for quality improvement, research, and clinical trials exist both locally within the department and systemwide through our "sister" Children's Hospital in Greenville.
About the Role
We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) Pediatric Pulmonologist to join a group of three existing BC physicians. This role offers a unique blend of clinical excellence and academic engagement, with full academic appointments at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine to teach medical students and pediatric residents.
You will join a robust clinical environment featuring an accredited pediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) program that serves as a Therapeutics Development Network (TDN) center, as well as an accredited Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) program. The position includes access to a full pulmonary function test (PFT) lab and bronchoscopy service. In this collaborative model, all subspecialists admit patients to the Children's Hospitalist service and then act as consultants in care delivery, operating under a 1:4 call ratio.
