The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Utah School of Medicine is a comprehensive center of excellence. Currently comprising 15 physicians, advanced practice nurses, and fellows, the division offers all pediatric GI, hepatology, and nutrition services except for small bowel transplantation. The program is distinguished by a liver transplant initiative that has performed over 300 transplants and is one of the few centers in the country with a pediatric ERCP and advanced endoscopy program.
The division operates within the Intermountain Health network, a not-for-profit system spanning Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Montana. This network includes Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City and the new Lehi-Miller Campus. The division collaborates closely with multidisciplinary programs including the Cystic Fibrosis Center, IBD surgery, the Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center, and a comprehensive nutrition center.
This position is based at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, Montana, a 286-bed facility serving as the healthcare hub for Central and Eastern Montana and Northern Wyoming. The hospital features 19 pediatric inpatient beds, 5 pediatric ICU beds, and a Level III newborn ICU. The role involves providing outpatient and inpatient care, performing endoscopic procedures and biopsies, and sharing on-call responsibilities.
The position includes outreach to regional locations in Central Montana, Eastern Montana, and Northern Wyoming, with chartered air travel provided for distances exceeding 150 miles. The successful candidate will receive a Clinical track faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at an academic level commensurate with experience. The department offers a faculty development and mentoring program designed to foster success in translational or basic research, quality improvement, and educational excellence.
Billings, Montana, is a vibrant, growing, affordable, and safe city with a population of 120,000, situated on the Yellowstone River. It serves as a gateway to major natural attractions, including Yellowstone National Park, the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, and the Bighorn Mountains, all within a two-hour drive. A new St. Vincent's hospital is expected to break ground within the year.
