This Paralegal position supports attorneys (AUSAs) and litigation teams within the civil unit, performing a variety of legal support duties in an office setting. The role is characterized by analyzing legal decisions, compiling substantive information, reviewing discovery, and evaluating evidence for hearings, appeals, and advisory services. You will work closely with assigned attorneys to prepare trial notebooks, assemble jury instructions, and compile witness and exhibit lists, ensuring all materials are efficiently arranged for trial.
The day-to-day work involves examining and preparing complex technical legal documents, such as complaints, motions, orders, and subpoenas, while ensuring strict adherence to rules governing style and format. You will maintain regular contact with federal agencies and law enforcement to ensure complete cooperation and timely information flow. Additionally, you will provide automated litigation support during trial preparation and courtroom presentations, utilizing various software applications and graphics hardware. This role requires the ability to consistently deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure while managing multiple case files and deadlines.
Work will be performed in person in Washington, D.C., onsite five days a week. The position is covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA), with pay and benefits meeting or exceeding the minimum requirements detailed in the applicable Department of Labor wage determination.
Applicants must be able to obtain a DOJ MBI clearance, which requires US citizenship. The role demands a combination of legal training, litigation experience, and proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Candidates with trial experience and familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures are highly valued.
