MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) is Northern New England's leading integrated behavioral healthcare system and a member of MaineHealth. Serving predominantly southern, western, central, and Mid-Coast Maine, the organization operates southern Maine's only nonprofit psychiatric hospital, alongside comprehensive outpatient treatment, crisis services, and five Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams. This fully integrated and growing system serves as a regional and national model for treating individuals with serious mental health issues.
We are seeking a full-time psychiatrist to join our team with a unique opportunity to work across multiple levels of care. This hybrid role is designed to provide continuity of care for patients transitioning between different treatment intensities. Your week will be structured to balance specialized addiction care, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
Three days per week will be dedicated to the Comprehensive Addiction Psychiatry Service (CAPS) and the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at our Biddeford Main Street site. This includes two days in a combination role providing psychiatric care for the PHP and coverage for the CAPS Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and one day solely within the CAPS program to perform IOP intakes, patient follow-ups, and outpatient care for a small caseload.
The remaining two days will be spent in outpatient care at either the Biddeford Ambulatory Clinic on Springbrook Drive or the Springvale Ambulatory Clinic, based on your preference. These ambulatory clinics are key components of our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, ensuring timely access to comprehensive, coordinated behavioral health services for individuals and families in York County.
You will join a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses. The CAPS program provides specialized care for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions, utilizing medication-assisted treatment and integrated behavioral health approaches. The PHP bridges the gap between inpatient and outpatient care, offering an alternative to hospitalization with structured, group-based therapy focused on emotional regulation and cognitive restructuring.
Our outpatient clinics offer trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches, including individual and family therapy, case management, and telehealth options. This role offers significant opportunities for teaching, supervision, and academic affiliation through Tufts University School of Medicine.
To apply, please submit your credentials highlighting your experience in addiction psychiatry and integrated care. We are looking for a provider with a strong commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care.
