Penn Vet's New Bolton Center provides an internationally renowned standard of care, operating one of the largest caseloads of any academic large animal hospital in the nation. Located on a 700-acre campus in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, the center is a hub for advanced veterinary medicine and education.
This role serves as a Veterinary Technician within the Operating Room and Central Supply departments. The position is integral to the hospital's daily operations, encompassing surgical preparation, sterilization duties, and general nursing care for large animal patients. You will work under the direction of the Director of Imaging and Clinical Services, assisting in the preparation and circulation for all surgical procedures. Your day will involve handling large animals, preparing surgical sites, and ensuring operating rooms are fully stocked and functional.
A key component of this role is mentorship. You will guide Harcum veterinary nursing students and veterinary students through daily activities, providing instruction on aseptic preparation, surgical procedures, and central supply operations. This position requires the ability to function quickly in stressful situations, manage rotating and on-call schedules, and maintain a 30-minute travel time to the hospital when on-call.
The position is based in Kennett Square, PA. Please note that there is no public transportation available to the site, though free onsite parking is provided.
