Lexington Health is a comprehensive network of care serving the Columbia Metro area, featuring six community medical centers, nearly 80 physician practices, and Lexington Medical Center—a 607-bed teaching hospital in West Columbia, South Carolina. Recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare and the first in the state to achieve Magnet with Distinction status, our organization delivers compassionate care with a robust complement of specialists, including perinatology, urogynecology, and oncology.
Our OB/GYN Hospitalist team is an expanding group within a network of 36 OB/GYNs, 8 GYN-only physicians, 2 Family Medicine OB physicians, and 16 Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants. We deliver approximately 4,000 babies annually, a volume expected to grow as South Carolina remains one of the fastest-growing states in the country. The team operates within a collegial and supportive environment designed to foster professional growth and patient safety.
This hybrid role is designed to provide high-quality, in-house obstetric and gynecologic inpatient care. As an OB/GYN Hospitalist, you will serve as the attending physician for unassigned patients, managing obstetrical triage, emergency deliveries, and gynecologic emergencies presenting through the Emergency Department. You will collaborate closely with employed and community-based OB/GYNs, nursing staff, anesthesia, and on-call physicians to ensure consistent, coordinated care across the service line.
The position supports resident education and ensures a skilled physician is present on-site during critical hours. While community-based OB/GYNs cover daytime call, the Hospitalist manages 12-hour shifts Monday through Friday and provides full weekend coverage on a rotating basis. This role focuses entirely on inpatient care and emergencies; you will not be responsible for office coverage or scheduled GYN surgeries. You will have immediate access to subspecialty consultations in MFM, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, general surgery, urology, and interventional radiology.
Physicians at Lexington Health enjoy a supportive environment backed by excellent compensation and resources. Our award-winning, in-house marketing services assist you in establishing a reputation within the community, helping you rapidly build a patient panel from day one. The organization is committed to quality, cost-effective benefits, including 24/7 live Epic EMR support from an on-site team, relocation assistance, and a sign-on bonus. We also offer an on-site child care center and serve as a Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) employer.
