About the Position
Rhino Medical is seeking an Obstetrics and Gynecology physician for a locum tenens assignment at a regional hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. This role focuses exclusively on inpatient obstetric care within a busy OB emergency department, managing emergent deliveries and C-sections. The position is designed for physicians who prefer a high-acuity environment without outpatient or gynecology responsibilities.
The team operates as the only maternity transport team in Iowa, providing critical care for patients without primary OB/GYN providers. Physicians will collaborate with Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) on-call specialists while working in a fully equipped environment featuring OBED rooms, medical imaging, labs, and pharmacy services.
Schedule and Environment
This assignment features 24-hour in-house shifts, with call rooms available for rest. The schedule runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with 24/7 in-house coverage and no callback requirements. Candidates must be willing to work a maximum of two consecutive shifts. The assignment covers specific dates from April 2026 through December 2026, with coverage gaps filled by the physician.
The hospital utilizes the Epic EMR system. While the role involves managing complex cases, there is no supervision of residents or Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) required.

Interested candidates must hold an active Iowa medical license, Board Certification in OB/GYN (MD/DO), and an active DEA registration in Iowa. While ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications are preferred, they are not mandatory. Please note that Rhino Medical does not reimburse application or credentialing fees.
