Ballad Health is a nationally recognized, integrated health system seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible OB/GYN physician to join a well-established and thriving practice at Indian Path Community Hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee. This role offers the chance to serve a growing population of over 75,000 residents across Sullivan County and the surrounding Appalachian Highlands region.
The position is embedded within a collaborative team of six physicians, supported by three Advanced Practitioners (two based in Kingsport and one in a rural outreach clinic). The team leverages an EPIC EMR system and is integrated into an OB Hospitalist program designed to share restricted call responsibilities between OB Generalists and skilled Laborists, ensuring exceptional work-life balance. Additionally, the team is poised to participate in an upcoming transformation of the Women's Center.
Located in the heart of Kingsport, Indian Path Community Hospital has served the region for over 40 years. The facility provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient care, featuring the Barbara Humphreys Birthing Center, emergency services, diagnostic imaging, adult and pediatric physical therapy, an accredited sleep center, and a regional Cancer Center offering comprehensive oncology services. Recent expansions include a newly renovated comprehensive Center for Women and Babies, a new pediatric emergency department, and access to gynecological surgical oncology specialists.
The Appalachian Highlands region, encompassing Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol, is a vibrant area known for its natural beauty, family-friendly amenities, and affordable living. Tennessee offers no state income tax and a low cost of living, complemented by excellent public and private schools and easy access to a regional airport.
Residents enjoy four distinct seasons in a picturesque setting with a rich arts and culture scene, including the Symphony of the Mountains. The area provides abundant outdoor recreation at Fort Patrick Henry Lake, Warriors Path State Park, and the Kingsport Greenbelt. Family attractions include Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium, the Kingsport Carousel & Park, and the Riverview Splash Pad, alongside local wineries and craft breweries.
While the State of Tennessee has recently enacted legislation regarding the licensure of International Medical Graduates, this law applies exclusively to institutions with Tennessee-based ACGME-accredited residency programs. Because Ballad Health's residency programs are based in Virginia, we are unable to facilitate the pathways provided by this specific Tennessee legislation. IMGs seeking to utilize these new state-specific opportunities are encouraged to focus their search on Tennessee-based academic institutions.
