The WIC Nutritionist serves as a vital link in our public health mission, providing accurate nutrition assessments and assigning risk factors to ensure participants receive the care they need. This role is designed to deliver appropriate nutrition and breastfeeding education to all participants in strict adherence to state WIC Program policies and procedures.
In this position, you will coordinate all nutrition and breastfeeding services, offering participant-centered counseling for high-risk individuals and completing necessary care plans. You will be responsible for determining health, medical, and nutrition eligibility by explaining certifying risk factors to participants and recommending appropriate supplemental foods and medical formulas. Beyond direct client care, you will process client vouchers, maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines, and proactively provide feedback to improve program quality, efficiency, and cost savings. During public health emergencies, you may be called upon to perform special assigned duties.
Candidates must meet specific educational and professional qualifications, including a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and relevant experience. The role requires a current driver's license, auto insurance, and the ability to obtain professional liability insurance. Successful candidates will complete state-required training and any mandatory re-training designated by the state WIC office.
