About the Role
We are seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at the Duane Waters Health Center in Jackson, Michigan. In this role, you will utilize the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs, with ambulatory care as your primary focus within a correctional environment.
You will work alongside a variety of healthcare professionals and security officers to provide essential medical services under the supervision of a licensed Physician. This position involves responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies throughout the facility, identifying patient health problems, and prescribing treatment. You will also play a key educational role, providing instruction to inmates, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
The role requires adherence to strict safety and security policies, including participation in disaster drills and following regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications. You will be expected to delegate and supervise team members as appropriate while maintaining Universal Precautions and infection control practices. The position operates on a 7 PM to 7 AM shift, working 36 hours per week, with a requirement to work every other weekend and half the holidays. Night shift offers premium pay.
