Lumen connects the world by igniting business growth through the seamless connection of people, data, and applications. We are building a culture from the ground up, committed to teamwork, trust, and transparency. Our mission is to digitally connect the world and shape the future, offering top-tier talent the flexibility needed to thrive and deliver lasting impact.
The Network Engineer II is a pivotal member of our team, dedicated to enhancing network design, optimizing performance, and elevating customer support. This role goes beyond daily maintenance; it involves actively collaborating with management, internal partners, and customers to drive continuous improvement. You will serve as a technical mentor, fostering a knowledgeable and collaborative environment for less experienced engineers.
A key aspect of this position is the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation, including Method of Procedures (MOP) and Statements of Work (SOW). You will work closely with cross-functional resources to define and deliver network-based projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently and economically. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting DWDM systems, troubleshooting production issues, and participating in Day 2 Support planning to ensure smooth network deployments.
This role requires a commitment to reliability, including the willingness to support deployments, maintenances, and escalations outside of regular work hours. While you will possess strong project management skills, the position also offers opportunities for growth through occasional direction and guidance on specific tasks.
Candidates selected for this position will undergo a background screening, which may include checks for criminal records, motor vehicle reports, and drug screening, depending on the specific requirements of the role. Results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and job-related concerns may impact eligibility. Please note that Lumen does not require any form of payment from job applicants during the recruitment process.
Lumen is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all persons regardless of race, color, ancestry, citizenship, national origin, religion, veteran status, disability, genetic characteristics, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, family status, pregnancy, or other legally protected status. We do not tolerate unlawful discrimination in any employment decisions, including recruiting, hiring, compensation, promotion, benefits, discipline, termination, job assignments, or training.
Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Additionally, we encourage applicants to redact or remove age-identifying information from their materials, as we will not penalize you for doing so.
