Founded in 1952 by Benjamin O'Brien in a small house in Bethesda, MD, the company originally offered printed music, lessons, and art supplies. Ben quickly decided to focus on music to better serve his customers—a decision that remains intact to this day. Since the 1990s, we have expanded through organic growth and acquisitions, becoming the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States in 2005.
