Salem Middle School, part of the DeKalb County School District, is seeking an English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. Our mission is to implement and promote high academic expectations for all students, utilizing best practices to drive student achievement.
As an ELA Teacher at Salem Middle, you will plan and deliver educational instruction to diverse learners, including those with special needs, in alignment with state and district standards. Your primary focus is to create a safe, engaging learning environment—both in-person and virtual—that promotes academic success, physical fitness, and life skills for global citizenship.
You will work collaboratively with team members, parents, and administrators to foster student development. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently under moderate supervision. You will be responsible for developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, and directing paraprofessionals as needed.
For candidates in the Special Education track, this role involves identifying educational needs and providing instruction based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). You will serve as a case manager for students with disabilities, facilitating IEP meetings and maintaining necessary paperwork while adhering to the Georgia professional code of educator ethics.
