Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a Part-Time Mid-Day Assistant (MDA) to support the daily operations and instructional effectiveness of our schools. This role is designed to provide essential assistance during the mid-day period, ensuring a safe, supportive, and productive environment for students.
As an MDA, you will work cooperatively with adults and children, following directions to support the school's mission. Your presence helps maintain safety, foster self-esteem in students, and model appropriate behavior and communication. While specific tasks are assigned by the principal and may vary based on the school's immediate needs, the core purpose of the role is to contribute to the overall success of the instructional program and school operation.
Your day will be physically active and interactive. You will be responsible for monitoring large groups of children in areas such as the cafeteria and bus rooms, as well as assisting with personal physical needs. Depending on the assignment, you may also support the office, prepare instructional materials, assist with direct instruction like reading stories or tutoring, and handle light clerical tasks such as typing or filing. The role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, move quickly to ensure student safety, and interact effectively with students and staff.
Interested candidates must meet the credential requirements, which include holding an associate's degree or higher, completing 48 hours of college coursework at an accredited institution, or passing the ETS ParaPro Assessment. Applications should be directed to the Human Resources Department, particularly if reasonable accommodations are needed for the application or hiring process.
