This position offers an opportunity to join a growing, successful company in an exciting and challenging field. You will work as a vital team member with the goal of becoming proficient in the field of metering. The role is primarily field-oriented, with very little time spent indoors, requiring you to troubleshoot issues on electric meters, inspect and verify meter wiring, and remove and replace existing electric meters.
Your day will involve deploying AMR/AMI equipment, typically working with single-phase and low-voltage systems. You will take and record voltages, verify the accuracy of electric meters and connected equipment, and conduct full ANSI C-12 meter accuracy tests and calibration on residential installations, substations, and utility generation sites. A key part of your responsibilities includes identifying and noting non-hazardous anomalies to assist utility personnel in determining their next steps, as well as troubleshooting metering installations to determine losses when equipment failure or installation errors are discovered.
Safety is paramount in this role. You will attend daily "Tailgate Meetings" with all involved personnel to maintain safety and receive guidance through various conditions. You must be prepared to observe conditions at the time of service, often identifying hazards that render conducting efforts unsafe, and immediately contact utility personnel or the lead technician when such conditions are found.
Applications are accepted while the posting remains active. Please note that the position may be filled before or after the listed application deadline. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment screenings, which may include a criminal background check (required for all positions), a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check (required for positions involving driving), and drug testing. These specific requirements will be communicated to the offered candidate during the onboarding process.
