About the Team
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is dedicated to providing the safest donor blood for our community. We operate one of our Immunohematology Reference Labs (IRL) in Gainesville, FL, where we focus on resolving complex immunohematology and compatibility problems to ensure patient safety. Our team is committed to providing the best possible customer service in an AABB accredited environment.
About the Role
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will join our Immunohematology Reference Laboratory to solve complex problems, such as identifying the specificity of antibodies in patient samples. This role is designed for professionals who enjoy deep technical work and want to make a direct impact on community health. You will exercise professional judgment to evaluate specimen integrity, ensure results accuracy, and document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in a reference lab setting and take advantage of LifeSouth's accredited SBB training program to continue improving your skills.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a full-time position with flexible scheduling options to accommodate your needs. A standard work week consists of four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts. Varying shifts are available, including rotating or set schedules and rotating holidays. Available shifts include day, evening, and night shifts, and shift times may be negotiable. There are no on-call requirements for this role.

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements: National certification as MT/CLS/MLS with ASCP, AAB or AMT including immunohematology; Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science; Familiarity with blood banking; Clinical laboratory training program or three years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience with a minimum of six months in the transfusion service or Immunohematology Reference Lab; SBB(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) preferred; and Criminal background check and drug screen required.
