About the Role
This position serves as a clinical role dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of pediatric patients within a multidisciplinary environment. The team collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical scientists, and social workers to deliver comprehensive care. The role offers exposure to a diverse mix of general and high-acuity pediatric cases.
Beyond direct patient care, the position includes significant responsibilities in teaching and supervising medical residents. It also provides opportunities to engage in research and publishing activities, fostering a commitment to academic pediatrics.
Day in the Life
You will apply knowledge of growth and development to patient interactions and treatment plans. Your clinical duties include performing and recording history and physical examinations, interpreting patient data, and developing documentation for treatment plans. You will write routine orders for laboratory studies, x-rays, and consultations, while also performing appropriate screenings and administering medications as required.
A key component of the role involves coordinating follow-up for tests, lab studies, and patient phone calls. You will also participate in the call schedule as assigned. To support team development, you will coordinate and deliver monthly inservices for staff and residents.
The role requires active self-education through reading journals, obtaining CME credits, and attending NCH conferences. You will be expected to make suggestions to the Department Director and attending staff to improve departmental operations. Additionally, you will participate in Performance Improvement initiatives and serve as a role model for medical students and residents.
