About the Role
Working under the close supervision of the Materials Manager, the Materials Specialist ensures the efficient flow of materials through the production lifecycle. This position focuses on applying mathematical and statistical methods to optimize inventory movement and production scheduling. The role serves as a bridge between data analysis and physical logistics, coordinating with department supervisors to maintain the standard flow of products through the facility.
Day-to-day activities involve analyzing production schedules to estimate work-hour requirements, performing continuous cycle counts to monitor parts levels, and assisting in designing part path mapping to minimize material handling. The specialist also supports the execution of standard logistics activities, such as assigning dock and storage locations based on pre-selected path mapping, and maintains accurate logistical data within the ERP system.
