Material Handler

About the Role

This position is central to Goodwill Central Texas's mission of distinguishing between retail goods, salvage, and trash. The role involves the safe and efficient handling of store deliveries, donation pickups, raw materials, and manufactured goods. Team members are responsible for loading, securing, unloading, and protecting these items, as well as processing, sorting, baling, and palletizing recyclable materials.

Day-to-Day Operations

You will operate various warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks, dock carts, down-stroke and horizontal baling machines, tippers, and roll-offs. A key part of the job involves sorting a variety of commodities accurately and palletizing large items such as televisions and furniture in accordance with company procedures. The role requires performing operator-level maintenance on assigned equipment, including daily checks for fuel, oil, lubricants, water, and antifreeze.

Beyond physical tasks, you will ensure the work area maintains a clean, neat, and professional appearance. You are also expected to present a professional Goodwill Central Texas image to customers, stores, and the general public while accurately completing required paperwork and reporting any incidents or accidents to your supervisor.

Work Environment

This role is performed in a non-climate-controlled environment. Team members must be prepared to stand, bend, and twist for eight-hour shifts and may be frequently exposed to airborne particles. The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at times and to multi-task to meet daily production quotas.
