EnviroScience, Inc. is dedicated to assessing the health of ecosystems, wildlife, and natural habitats through rigorous scientific inquiry. The Marine Services division plays a pivotal role in this mission, employing biologists, ecologists, and environmental scientists to conduct critical fieldwork and data analysis. This team operates at the intersection of science and conservation, ensuring that environmental assessments meet federal, state, and local protocols while advancing our understanding of aquatic resources.
The Marine Services Biology Field Technician is a seasonal role designed to support the core mission of freshwater mussel surveys and broader ecological studies. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field alongside a dedicated team of scientists. You will be an active participant in the data capture and management lifecycle, contributing directly to the assessment of ecosystem health.
Your day-to-day will be a dynamic blend of outdoor exploration and precise data management. You will spend the majority of your time (75-100%) in the field, often in remote or challenging locations, conducting biological assessments and collecting water quality and habitat variables. Whether you are identifying freshwater mussels to species using taxonomic guides, navigating rough terrain in adverse weather, or managing data back at the Stow, Ohio office, your work ensures the accuracy and reliability of the ecological data that drives our projects.
This role is a hybrid of field and office work, offering exposure to various practice areas including Natural Resources, Restoration, Compliance, and Lab Services. It is an ideal position for those seeking to build a career in environmental science while contributing to meaningful conservation efforts across the eastern U.S.
We are seeking candidates for the summer season, with a preferred start date of June 1st. The application process is managed through our internal recruitment channels. Interested candidates should submit their resumes and relevant qualifications to the hiring manager, Alan Christian.
We value diversity and inclusion in our workforce. EnviroScience, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a team that reflects the diverse communities we serve. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
This is a physically demanding role that requires a genuine passion for the outdoors. Field technicians should expect to work 8-12 hour days, often including irregular hours and weekend work, in all types of weather conditions. The role involves significant travel, including overnight trips and extended periods in different states, as well as the ability to maneuver uneven, uphill, and downhill terrain.
We foster a culture of teamwork and precision. While you will work under the direct supervision of field crew leaders, you will also be trusted to work independently on data management tasks. We provide standard office equipment and space for office-based work, ensuring you have the tools needed to succeed in both field and office environments.
