About the Role
The Manager, Software Asset Management (SAM) serves as a strategic people leader dedicated to expanding and optimizing Cardinal Health's enterprise software portfolio. This role is designed to maximize value, minimize risk, and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will lead the growth and maturity of the SAM program by onboarding top-tier suppliers, advancing Flexera One as the enterprise system of insight, developing SAM talent, and accelerating automation throughout the software lifecycle.
In this position, you will act as a core strategic partner within the software strategy council, collaborating closely with IT, Finance, FinOps, Procurement, Cloud, Security, Legal, and strategic vendors. Your work will deliver measurable cost optimization, compliance assurance, and value realization, ensuring that software assets are managed effectively across on-prem, SaaS, and cloud environments.

- check_circleSpearhead quarterly business reviews with internal and external partners
- check_circleLead, develop, and mentor SAM team members while establishing performance expectations
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or related field
- verified8+ years of experience in Software Asset Management or IT Asset Management
- verifiedHands-on experience maturing Flexera One or comparable SAM platforms
- verifiedITAM, SAM, or FinOps certifications preferred
Nice to Have
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or related field. 8+ years of experience in Software Asset Management or IT Asset Management. Demonstrated people leadership experience. Hands-on experience maturing Flexera One or comparable SAM platforms at enterprise scale. Proven experience defining and managing KPIs and translating insights into business action. Strong cross-functional influence and stakeholder management skills. Effective communication skills. Experience partnering with external consulting partners or other SAM managed service providers. Experience leading automation or data-driven transformation initiatives. ITAM, SAM, or FinOps certifications.
