About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe System Administrator with deep NOMAD expertise to support critical Department of Transportation applications. This role is pivotal in maintaining, enhancing, and preparing legacy NOMAD systems for a future migration to a statewide ERP platform.
You will operate independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability of Human Resources Information (HRI), Time Keeping System (TKS), and Human Resources Datamart (HRD) applications. Your work will involve analyzing system functionality, resolving complex data and performance issues, and generating reports to support operational and modernization needs. A key component of this position is supporting the transition strategy, including participating in modernization planning and assisting with system decommissioning.
Work Environment
This is a long-term contract position (3 years) based in Springfield, IL. The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring 2 days onsite and 3 days remote, subject to CIO approval. You will work a standard 40-hour week from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST.

Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Accounting, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- verifiedMinimum 3+ years of recent experience with NOMAD applications, programming, databases, online screens, time series arrays, date/time functions, and reporting tools
- verifiedMinimum 2+ years of experience with IBM VM environment
- verifiedMinimum 1+ year of experience with File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
- verifiedMust be authorized to work in the United States
Nice to Have
Experience supporting HR and payroll systems. Experience in public sector or government environments. Exposure to ERP migration or system modernization initiatives.
