About the Position
Adelphi Locums is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to join a Cardiothoracic Surgery team in Lexington, KY. This locum tenens opportunity offers a unique chance to provide high-level surgical support in a low-volume, inpatient setting. The role is designed to supplement the existing team, ensuring continuity of care during specific coverage periods starting May 31, 2026.
Day in the Life
In this call-only capacity, you will serve as a vital first assistant for complex procedures including CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomy/lung resections. With a patient volume characterized by 1-2 surgeries per day, the environment allows for focused attention on surgical precision. Your duties will extend beyond the operating room to include Surgical CT, vein harvest, chest tube placement, and managing duties in the OR, Tele, and ICU settings.
The schedule is structured to provide flexibility while maintaining coverage. You will be on call from Friday to Monday, 7 a.m. to 7 a.m., typically working 1-2 days per week with one weekend per month. The facility utilizes Epic for electronic medical records, and all travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance costs are covered for the duration of the assignment.

Interested candidates must possess an active KY license, Board Certification (BC), and a valid DEA registration. BLS and ACLS certifications are required, along with an NPDB report. We also welcome NPs who possess the specific surgical capabilities required for this role, including the ability to perform surgery components and vein harvest.
