Heifer U.S.A. is seeking a reliable and hardworking Livestock Assistant to support daily ranch operations at the Heifer Ranch in Perryville, Arkansas. This role is integral to the team's mission, serving as a hands-on partner in caring for animals and maintaining facilities across multiple livestock enterprises. The ideal candidate possesses a strong interest in regenerative agriculture, enjoys working outdoors, and is physically capable of managing the demands of a multi-species operation.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with the HUSA team to complete daily tasks efficiently. Your day-to-day involves caring for cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, and turkeys, including feeding, watering, moving livestock, and conducting welfare checks. You will play a key role in managing pasture-based systems through fence setup, water system management, and rotational grazing. The role also requires monitoring animal health, identifying threats to animal welfare and soil health, and safely operating machinery such as tractors. Ongoing learning is encouraged, with opportunities to stay current with emerging technologies and practices through workshops and trainings.
Candidates must reside within a commutable distance to the Heifer Ranch in Perryville, AR, or be willing to stay on the Ranch when duties require it. The position requires reliable transportation to the site. The interview process will focus on assessing your work ethic, passion for livestock, and ability to collaborate within a culturally diverse environment. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to safety standards for both people and animals.
