The LIS Systems Administrator serves as a critical technical resource within the Southlake Campus, ensuring the seamless operation of Laboratory Information Systems across diverse clinical domains including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Flow Cytometry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Virology.
In this role, you will act as the primary help desk resource for the laboratory, bridging the gap between clinical needs and technical solutions. Your day-to-day involves monitoring integrated systems for abnormal conditions, responding to console messages, and executing corrective measures to maintain system integrity. You will manage critical infrastructure tasks such as tape volume management, backup verification, and the operation of tape drives and printers.
Beyond maintenance, the position requires active participation in the technology lifecycle. You will troubleshoot and install file server hardware and operating systems, deploy standard and customized software applications, and assist in testing software upgrades. The role also involves collaborating with vendors for hardware and software selection, leading networking project activities, and ensuring strict adherence to security procedures. Success in this position requires the ability to document trouble calls promptly and communicate serious system consequences to management effectively.
