The Municipal Operations section provides full-service legal representation and advice to City officials and employees. It handles a steady stream of clients with an incredible variety of legal needs, including general municipal law, construction contracts, procurement, government contracting, municipal finance, bankruptcy, real estate, land use, environmental regulation, and commercial litigation. The Denver City Attorney's Office seeks an Entry Level real estate and construction Attorney to join the Municipal Operations Section as an Assistant City Attorney. In this role, you will primarily represent the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, as well as the Department of Finance and Real Estate Section.
You will partner with executive leadership and staff to advise on construction procurement, bid issues, contracting, real estate transactions, and municipal law. As the senior expert on construction and finance-related issues, you will participate in the City's most complex construction projects. Your day-to-day will involve drafting and negotiating contracts, interpreting City ordinances and charter requirements, conducting legal research, and providing formal legal opinions on complex matters. You will also have the opportunity to provide guidance to associate and entry-level attorneys.
This is a full-time limited position with an expected end date of December 31, 2031. The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. On-site work takes place at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building (201 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80202) during office hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
