The Licensed Vocational Nurse Residency - Ortho Trauma at Medical City Healthcare is designed for new and early-career LVNs seeking a structured pathway into acute orthopedic and trauma care. This on-site role provides a unique opportunity to build confidence in assessment, communication, and teamwork through guided mentorship, skills labs, and evidence-based education.
In this position, you will deliver safe, compassionate bedside nursing care to patients with fractures, joint replacements, and multi-trauma injuries. Working under the supervision of RNs and physicians, you will support pre- and post-operative patients while actively participating in the interdisciplinary team. The program emphasizes patient safety, infection control, and collaboration, ensuring you are well-prepared for the demands of a fast-paced hospital environment.
Your day will involve direct patient care, including medication administration, wound and post-operative care, mobility assistance, and pain management. You will also be responsible for accurate electronic health record (EHR) documentation and monitoring vital signs. As part of the residency, you will engage in structured education and clinical competencies to master orthopedic and trauma nursing fundamentals.
Candidates with an active LVN license, BLS certification, and a strong motivation to learn are encouraged to apply. The program is ideal for those who have completed clinical rotations or externships in acute care and are ready to commit to rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
