Be a part of the nationwide law enforcement initiative that removes the tools of crime from criminal organizations, depriving wrongdoers of proceeds from their crime and impacting the infrastructure of criminal enterprises.
The Money Laundering, Narcotics and Forfeiture Section (MNF) leads the asset forfeiture and anti-money laundering enforcement efforts. MNF holds the responsibility of coordination, direction, and general oversight of the Asset Recovery Program. The section provides leadership by prosecuting and coordinating complex, sensitive, multi-district, and international money laundering and asset forfeiture investigations and cases. Additionally, MNF provides legal and policy assistance and training to federal, state, and local prosecutors and law enforcement personnel, as well as to foreign governments. The team assists Departmental and interagency policymakers by developing and reviewing legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives, and manages the Department's Asset Forfeiture Program, including distributing forfeited funds and properties to appropriate domestic and foreign law enforcement agencies and to community groups within the United States.
Centre Law & Consulting (Centre) offers the rare blend of legal expertise and practical federal contracting experience necessary to assist government and industry clients in navigating the complex maze of federal rules and regulations and implementing federal market solutions that are timely, efficient, and legally effective. As a Legal Clerk supporting the MNF, you will play a vital role in the section's overall mission. You will be the first line of review for legal instruments, ensuring completeness and proper execution while conducting initial reviews of petitions for remission and mitigation of forfeiture. Your work will involve researching records to identify conditions that might prevent action, collecting facts for case and standard reports, and confirming citations and legal references. This role requires a professional disposition and the ability to provide excellent customer service within a team environment.
This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation. Candidates must be prepared to work onsite, as this position is not currently approved for telework.
