About the Role

The Lead Program Specialist serves as a strategic leader for utility-sponsored energy efficiency, electrification, and demand-side management programs across the public sector. This position exists to drive measurable energy savings and promote equitable access to clean energy solutions through technical leadership and client engagement. You will act as the primary liaison for clients, managing day-to-day operations, outreach, and overall program performance while overseeing the design and continuous improvement of initiatives. The role involves directing internal teams and subcontractors, developing relationships with local governments and community organizations, and representing programs in industry conferences and community forums. You will also guide business development activities and provide technical training to ensure operational excellence and high program satisfaction.

Requirements

verifiedBachelor's degree in Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline (or substitute one year of related experience for one year of education)
verified8+ years of experience in energy efficiency, clean energy program management, consulting for utilities or public agencies
verifiedPMP, CEM, BPI, LEED-AP, or Six Sigma certification (preferred)
verifiedProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project tracking tools (preferred)

Nice to Have

Experience in energy efficiency program administration and demand-side management initiatives. Knowledge of behind-the-meter technologies, building codes, and retrofit practices. Professional certifications such as PMP, CEM, BPI, LEED-AP, or Six Sigma. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project tracking tools. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
