Health Care for the Homeless is a mission-driven organization committed to racial equity, social justice, and community wellness. We are a dynamic, people-first organization that centers compassion, authenticity, and hope in our work. Our team works tirelessly to shape the future of housing and recovery services in Baltimore, delivering exceptional care to the community's most underserved populations.
The Lead Housing Program Assistant serves as a vital link between our Housing Services Program Manager and the frontline team. This role is essential to ensuring clients are moved into housing quickly and that accurate rental and utility payments are processed across all programs. You will supervise a team of Housing Services Program Assistants, fostering a professional and collaborative environment where staff can solve complex problems and grow in their advocacy.
In this position, you will act as a subject matter expert, providing hands-on support and cross-training to ensure the team meets department goals and complies with state, federal, and regulatory standards. Your day will involve developing tracking systems for key metrics, conducting file audits for grant monitoring, and serving as the back-up for the Representative Payee Clerk. You will collaborate closely with Housing Specialists and the finance team to ensure inspection and rental data are updated for reimbursement, while also managing correspondence with landlords and clients regarding move-in processes and lease agreements.
Joining our team means becoming part of a culture that values integrity and open communication. You will receive training and support to grow in your advocacy and peer work, with the opportunity to apply Harm Reduction and Housing First principles in your daily interactions. We are dedicated to uplifting BIPOC and TGNC individuals and communities, and we seek team members who share our commitment to these values.
To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter. We encourage you to read more about the people we serve at hchmd.org.
