About the Role

The WBG Chief Risk Officer (CRO) Vice Presidency serves as the core unit responsible for Group-wide institutional risk oversight, including the establishment and monitoring of risk policies and reporting to the Board and executive management. Its mission is to enable the WBG to achieve its goals in a financially sustainable manner.

To improve accountability and credibility, the WBG has created an independent second line of environmental and social (E&S) risk oversight within its CRO. While operational teams design and deliver projects per E&S policies, this new E&S Risk Department monitors and evaluates E&S performance. The Lead Environmental & Social Standards Specialist will establish and lead the E&S Risk Analytics and Reporting unit, managing a team of specialists and data scientists to build robust data governance frameworks and deploy innovative AI tools for risk assessment.
