DMC University Laboratories, Inc. is a regional, integrated laboratory system serving the eight hospitals of the Detroit Medical Center. Evolving since 1993, our facility provides a comprehensive suite of services including Core and Specialty Laboratories, a Centralized Stat Lab, a Centralized Blood Bank, and a robust outreach infrastructure with patient service centers and courier systems. We cover the entire Southeast Michigan market with a test menu of over 1,000 tests, sending less than 1% of our tests to outside reference laboratories.

In this role, you will perform specific pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Your day will involve prioritizing incoming specimens, processing patient samples in accordance with safety guidelines, and ensuring that critical tests are handled immediately. You may draw blood samples, verify patient identification, and generate labels for specimens. You will also be responsible for maintaining specimen integrity, entering and reviewing laboratory test data, and communicating with patients and healthcare professionals to answer routine inquiries.
Beyond technical duties, you will maintain a clean and organized work area, stock supplies, and perform routine equipment inspections and quality control checks. You may also assist with transportation duties, such as delivering specimens and reports, and handle various clerical tasks including scheduling appointments and maintaining records. This position is designed for someone who is self-monitoring and eager to communicate training needs to management to foster continuous improvement.
