The Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility (AWWU) is a vital municipal entity dedicated to providing essential water and wastewater services to the community. This position operates within the Municipality of Anchorage, adhering to the Personnel Rules and Municipal Policies that govern our workforce.
This non-represented role serves as a critical link between field operations and Central Payroll. You will be responsible for reviewing time and attendance data to ensure accurate processing, managing accounts payable transactions within the Municipal financial management system, and coordinating travel logistics for AWWU staff. Beyond daily administrative duties, you will provide training and assistance to colleagues regarding time administration, accounts payable, and travel protocols.
The role requires a strong understanding of union contracts, personnel rules, and state and federal employment laws as they relate to time and attendance. You will also support various audit and management requests by providing necessary data. In the event of major emergencies or disasters, you may be called upon to participate in extended shifts, potentially working 12-hour days for 72 hours or more, seven days a week, as defined by AWWU's disaster plan matrix.\n
This position is open to the general public and current Municipal employees. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the Municipality of Anchorage cannot provide visa sponsorship. Unless otherwise specified, this role is on-site at 3000 Arctic Boulevard.
Candidates must successfully pass a background check covering criminal history, education, and employment history. Hires are placed at the entrance pay step, with advancement occurring through successive steps based on tenure and performance.
