We serve Utah public employees with retirement and insurance benefits in a partnership of trust, driven by a commitment to value, innovation, and excellence. URS operates two primary divisions: the Retirement Office, which administers pension benefits and retirement savings plans, and the Public Employees Health Program (PEHP), a nonprofit trust providing health benefits to Utah's public employees and their families. We serve exclusively the public sector, including the State of Utah, its counties, cities, school districts, and other public agencies.
The Investments Team is responsible for implementing the investment program of the URS Defined Benefit plan. With defined benefit assets totaling $48.1 billion as of December 31, 2024, the team manages investments internally while partnering with external investment firms to oversee a globally diversified portfolio. The team's efforts place a strong emphasis on Absolute Return, Real Assets, and Private Equity investments.
This specific role focuses on the private market energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a genuine interest in the global energy system, the energy transition, and transformational energy technology. You will collaborate with the Investment Team to monitor, evaluate, and select external managers and direct investments, providing critical research and analysis to Senior Investment Professionals regarding risk, performance, and portfolio fit.
Success in this role requires a collaborative team player with strong analytical and critical thinking skills. You should possess a passion for quantitative and qualitative analysis, manager selection, and strategy research. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build relationships and maintain a high degree of intellectual curiosity. We value individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset who are mission-oriented and ready to "see something and do something."
