The Bureau of Criminal Investigations within the Criminal Law Division of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) serves as a critical resource for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our mission is to support the investigation and prosecution of a complete spectrum of crimes, ranging from simple misdemeanors to complex corrupt organizations, conspiracies, and first-degree murder cases involving the death penalty. We work to protect the public by providing actionable intelligence and analytical insight to decision-makers, attorneys, and agents.
As an Investigative Analyst, you will be the backbone of our investigative efforts, working directly with agents and attorneys to develop the intelligence necessary to deter, detect, and prevent credible criminal threats. This role is designed for individuals who thrive on turning raw data into strategic assets. You will not only collect and analyze information from diverse sources—including criminal history records, financial data, and open-source intelligence—but also synthesize this information to reveal patterns, trends, and the modus operandi of criminal factions.
Your day-to-day work involves preparing tactical, operational, and strategic analytical products such as written reports, oral presentations, visual illustrations, and charts. You will monitor real-time threat information, assist in pre-operational planning for warrant executions, and compile data from confidential informants and law enforcement partners to map organizational structures. The role requires a deep understanding of criminal procedure and investigative tactics, allowing you to provide counsel to OAG leadership and testify in court and grand jury proceedings regarding your analytical findings.
Candidates selected for this position will be required to comply with all requirements of the Criminal History Records Information Act (CHRIA) and 28 C.F.R. The selection process involves a review of qualifications against the specific education and experience standards for either the Investigative Analyst I or II level, followed by interviews to assess analytical capabilities and fit within the bureau.
The Office of the Attorney General is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
