Join the largest Cath Lab in the UPMC System at UPMC Presbyterian. Our highly skilled Heart Catheterization team is dedicated to mission-driven work, playing a direct role in saving lives every day by managing the most unique and complex cardiovascular cases in the system.
About the Role
As a full-time Invasive Cardiac Technologist, you will partner with physicians to perform and assist with advanced cardiovascular procedures, including cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stenting, vascular interventions, pericardiocentesis, and right heart catheterizations. This role is designed for confident, skilled radiologic technologists who possess strong critical thinking abilities and a passion for delivering excellent patient care in high-stakes environments. You will be responsible for ensuring proper image coding and tracking, maintaining point-of-care testing standards, and fostering an environment that supports aseptic technique and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleReview patient history and physician orders to apply departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition
- check_circleDocument patient history and radiation exposure data in the electronic record as required
- check_circleDemonstrate proper positioning and radiographic techniques for diagnostic and interventional procedures
- check_circleFunction in the first assist position and administer contrast under physician direction
- check_circlePractice attentiveness to radiation safety using lead shielding and monitoring devices
- check_circleMaintain point of care testing standards including daily quality control for procedural devices
- check_circleProvide scheduled stand-by call coverage in accordance with system-wide policies
- check_circleFoster an environment supporting aseptic technique and patient safety through time-out processes
- check_circleEnsure all procedural images are properly coded, tracked in PACS, and networked to electronic records
- check_circleCommunicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and alleviate fears
- check_circlePerform and assist with cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stenting, and vascular interventions
Requirements
- verifiedGraduate of ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS)
- verifiedARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required
- verifiedCPR certification required
- verifiedACLS certification desired upon hire
- verifiedACLS certification required within orientation period
- verifiedAct 34 clearance required
