As an Internal English/Spanish Interpreter, you will serve as a vital communication bridge for individuals accessing services through community organizations contracted with Ibero. Working under the guidance of the Director of Language Services, your primary mission is to provide professional, accurate, and culturally sensitive interpretation services that ensure equitable access to care and support.
This role is designed for a resourceful professional who can exercise initiative within agency policies while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality. You will be expected to arrive promptly for appointments, often arriving 10-15 minutes early, and to uphold the fidelity of original messages while respecting cultural differences. The position requires a blend of analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations regardless of age, gender, race, or background.
Interested candidates should ensure they meet the core qualifications, including at least 40 hours of accredited Medical Interpreter Training, a minimum of two years of Spanish interpreting experience, and full bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish. A valid N.Y.S. driver's license is also required to facilitate travel for scheduled appointments and periodic training seminars.
