Inspectors serve as the frontline guardians of fire safety, responsible for the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflow preventers. Operating with a high degree of independence, this role ensures that critical life-safety infrastructure complies with NFPA codes and functions reliably in the event of an emergency.
The position requires a blend of technical mechanical aptitude and strong customer service skills. Inspectors act as the primary point of contact for internal teams, external clients, and offsite monitoring companies, professionally communicating system statuses and reporting any deficiencies. The role is dynamic, involving frequent travel to various sites, often requiring on-call availability to handle emergency service requests and urgent inspection needs.
A typical day involves planning and executing scheduled inspections using specialized equipment, including heat and smoke detector kits, backflow testing tools, and pump diagnostic gear. Inspectors must navigate diverse work environments, ranging from cramped quarters and construction sites to finished facilities, often working in extreme temperatures, loud noise, or dusty conditions.
Beyond technical testing, the role demands rigorous adherence to safety protocols, including participation in weekly Toolbox talks and maintaining a clean, well-maintained company vehicle. Experienced inspectors also play a mentorship role, training new trainees on applicable aspects of fire protection and staying current with evolving technologies through seminars.
Candidates are expected to possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and must successfully pass a background screening and drug and alcohol policy compliance check. The selection process evaluates both technical proficiency in fire protection systems and the ability to work effectively both alone and within a team.
We are fully committed to equal opportunities for employment for all individuals regardless of race, national origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, familial status, or any other classification protected under the law. As an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer, we foster an inclusive culture where diverse backgrounds are valued.
