Carilion Clinic is a not-for-profit, physician-led healthcare system serving nearly one million patients annually across Virginia and West Virginia. With seven hospitals and over 250 physician practices, the organization combines the resources of a large system with the collegial feel of a close-knit medical community. The system is recognized for excellence, holding Magnet designation, Joint Commission accreditation, and national awards for patient experience.
You will join a collaborative inpatient psychiatry team at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, working alongside engaged colleagues in an environment designed by physicians, for physicians. This setting values innovation, education, and evidence-based care, ensuring your voice matters and your career can evolve in meaningful ways.
This opportunity offers a rare combination of impact, growth, and support, allowing your clinical expertise, leadership, and academic interests to thrive. The role is intentionally structured to help you advance your career while maintaining a meaningful work-life balance.
As a Psychiatrist, you will manage a focused inpatient caseload of 10-12 patients per day, treating an acute adult population in a high-acuity, short-duration environment. The position emphasizes quality over volume, allowing you to deliver thoughtful, patient-centered care. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, enhancing both patient outcomes and your own leadership skills.
The role includes an academic appointment with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, ideal for those who enjoy teaching and mentoring. You will work closely with psychiatry residents and medical students, shaping the next generation of physicians. Additionally, you will have opportunities to participate in research and contribute to advancing psychiatric care within a system that hosts 13 residency programs and 16 fellowships.
