The Industrial Engineering Lead at GM Bedford GPS provides technical and leadership direction for industrial engineering across the plant, with a strong focus on die casting and machining operations. This role partners closely with production, maintenance, quality, and HR/LR to implement lean manufacturing systems, improve throughput, and ensure standardized work and manpower plans support both current operations and future programs.
As the primary IE leader for Bedford GPS, you will set the strategic direction for industrial engineering to support safety, quality, throughput, and cost objectives. You will provide day-to-day guidance to plant industrial engineers, coaching team members on methods, tools, and GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS) standards. Your work will drive site capacity planning, people-power planning, and productivity improvement plans.
You will lead Throughput Improvement Process (TIP) activities and structured problem-solving to optimize the sequence of operations, line balance, and workflow. A key part of your day involves owning the accuracy of IE documentation, including Assembly Process System (APS), Standard Time Data System (STDS), and labor reporting. You will also support new program launches by coordinating pre-production trials, run-at-rate, and ramp-up IE deliverables.
Throughout your tenure, you will champion safe work practices and ergonomic improvements while ensuring all IE practices are consistent with UAW-GM National Agreement provisions. You will partner with union representatives and HR/LR where IE work impacts job content, staffing, or schedules.
Applicants in the recruitment process may be required, where applicable, to successfully complete a role-related assessment(s) and/or a pre-employment screening prior to beginning employment. For more details on the process, visit How we Hire.
