The Residential Restoration Technician I serves as a vital member of the Maintenance Division, dedicated to the restoration and modernization of vacant housing units in Paducah, KY. This full-time, non-exempt position is designed to reduce vacancy rates by transforming empty units into safe, habitable homes ready for occupancy. Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Mechanic or Residential Restoration Specialist, you will execute a wide spectrum of maintenance, repair, and general labor duties to ensure all properties meet strict HUD regulations and Housing Authority standards.
Your work will be hands-on and varied, requiring you to move seamlessly between different trades. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of a unit's renovation, starting with deep cleaning, debris removal, and disinfecting vacant spaces. From there, you will tackle structural and cosmetic repairs, including installing drywall, framing, insulation, and performing painting and texturing. The role demands technical proficiency in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and light HVAC servicing to replace fixtures, repair switches, and install appliances.
Safety is paramount in this environment. You will be expected to adhere to all safety standards and PPE requirements while navigating moderate construction-related risks, including mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Whether working indoors or outdoors, in confined spaces, or lifting heavy loads, you will maintain a high standard of care for both yourself and the property. You will also manage your assigned work vehicle and tools, ensuring they are kept in top condition, and document your work with clear, detailed completion notes.
This is a full-time term position contingent upon project completion needs. Priority consideration will be given to currently Paducah County residents. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the agency vehicle policy. While specific certifications in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical are preferred, a willingness to obtain UPCS training is required.
