The Student Records & Assignments Operations team at Atlanta Public Schools ensures the integrity of the district's enrollment and residency data. This team works to uphold Georgia Education Law guidelines, verifying that all students attending district schools meet residency requirements. The team supports the Director of Student Assignment and Records in maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance across the district.
The Hourly Residency Officer plays a critical investigative role in protecting the district's resources and ensuring fair access to education. You will be responsible for investigating reports of children attending Atlanta Public Schools who may not qualify under Georgia Education Law guidelines. Your work involves verifying residency issues and assisting with the registration or re-registration of students as assigned.
In this position, you will conduct investigations using a variety of methods, including computer technology, interviews, surveillance, telecommunications, and the review of school and public records. You may be required to develop photographic evidence and maintain detailed logs of all steps taken, time expended, and case resolutions. The role requires interacting with parents and guardians when requested and performing random checks on new registrants as well as follow-ups on existing residency issues.
This is an on-site, in-person role requiring regular attendance during business hours and availability for travel to multiple sites as needed. You will serve as a representative of the district, presenting photo identification when conducting investigations or other official activities.
Candidates selected for this position must possess a valid driver's license and private transportation. Additionally, a Georgia PSC Clearance Certification is required prior to employment. The selection process will verify your investigative experience and ability to handle sensitive data and community interactions.
