WSDOT is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Highway Maintenance Worker 2 to join our Traffic Striping Crew based in Union Gap, WA. In this dynamic role, you will travel throughout the South-Central Region, performing pavement marking and traffic striping operations that directly contribute to the safety and mobility of Washington's transportation system. As part of a dedicated team, you will help install and maintain roadway markings, prepare road surfaces, and support the delivery of high-quality, durable, and compliant pavement markings that enhance visibility for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
This position offers the opportunity to work outdoors, operate specialized equipment, and play a vital role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Work is generally performed Monday–Thursday on four 10-hour shifts, though weekends, holidays, night work, and extended hours may be required for emergency response and non-scheduled callouts. The role requires the ability to report to the duty station within 45 minutes and respond in all weather conditions.

Demonstrated ability to safely implement and maintain traffic control measures in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Ability to interpret, understand, and apply maintenance manuals, policies, procedures, and operational guidance. Knowledge of snow and ice control principles and the ability to interpret and implement winter operations plans and response strategies. Ability to interpret and apply work zone traffic control standards, guidelines, and best practices, including MUTCD requirements.
