Geisinger Life Flight operates a fleet of eight SPIFR EC145s and one BK117C1, dedicated to the safe and efficient conveyance of patients requiring emergency services. Our purpose is rooted in caring for patients, members, students, and the broader community. We strive to treat everyone with kindness, treasure colleagues who strive for excellence, and constantly seek innovation to improve care. Safety is paramount, providing a secure environment for our patients and the Geisinger family.
As a Pilot, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments in a high-stakes patient care environment. You will work in and around aircraft, often exposed to non-conventional motion, noise, vibration, jet fumes, and extreme temperatures. Your day involves planning flight assignments, obtaining briefing information regarding weather and operating procedures, and conducting start-of-shift briefings with medical, communications, and ground personnel.
You will ensure the aircraft is fully prepared, inspected, and loaded per the General Operating Manual, supervising the distribution of cargo and passengers while maintaining strict weight and balance limitations. You will file, activate, and close flight plans, maintain current navigation charts, and log all mechanical discrepancies. As the Pilot-in-Command, you are authorized to accept or decline flight assignments based on weather conditions or other factors impacting flight safety.
This role operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation. The position requires the ability to sit for long periods in a helicopter or office, lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and maintain a total weight in flight gear not exceeding 275 lbs. You will work in a hangar environment daily, potentially exposed to loud noise, fumes, gases, and mechanical hazards.
We offer a competitive salary and benefit package, including a $25,000 signing bonus for pilots with a 3-year commitment. Additional financial incentives include a $5,000 base salary increase upon attaining the Single Pilot IFR credential, an ATP stipend, and 1.5x base salary for extra shifts. Relocation assistance is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance starting day one, a competitive 401k plan with automatic contributions, and a PTO plan designed to help you earn time fast. We also support your growth with up to $5,000 in annual tuition reimbursement, a wellness program with incentives, and family-friendly support including adoption assistance, paid parental leave, and paid military leave.
We encourage an atmosphere of collaboration, cooperation, and collegiality. We know that a diverse workforce with unique experiences and backgrounds makes our team stronger. Our patients, members, and community come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and it takes a diverse workforce to make better health easier for all.
