As the Head of Public Policy, you will lead Braven's Federal, State, and Local policy work as a key member of the External Affairs team. Reporting directly to the Chief External Affairs Officer, your mission is to design and execute a comprehensive policy strategy that shapes the college-to-career field. This role is critical to achieving our goal of serving 80,000 to 100,000 Fellows over the next decade.
In this position, you will drive the narrative for policymakers at local, state, and federal levels, cultivating relationships with the Department of Education, the White House, Congress, and gubernatorial administrations. You will build coalitions, manage lobbying contracts, and lead initiatives like the annual Capitol Hill Policy Fellows program, bringing Braven students to DC for influential internships. Your work will bridge the gap between policy and practice, ensuring Braven's voice is heard in the rooms where decisions are made.

MPP, MPA, or JD degree. Experience in the non-profit industry, higher education, or workforce development policy. Experience working directly in a state legislature, Governor's office, or Congress. Ability to build inspiring visions and strategies that motivate others. Extensive knowledge of legislative and administrative processes. Action-oriented mindset with perseverance and ability to pursue ambitious, measurable goals. Strong attention to detail while maintaining a big-picture perspective. Strong external and internal relationship-building skills with experience tailoring approaches to diverse stakeholders. Excellent public speaking and strategic communication skills. Ability to bring together multiple perspectives to enhance work and decisions. Commitment to continuous reflection and creating space for upward feedback.
