This position is dedicated to operating and maintaining critical Gas Detection Systems and Breathing Air Safety Equipment at drilling rigs and production sites. The role is essential for ensuring safety in environments where there is a potential for or anticipated release of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S). The incumbent serves as a frontline safety supervisor, ensuring that all monitoring systems are functional and that breathing air supplies are ready for immediate use.
The day begins with rigging up gas detection systems and monitoring breathing air systems to prepare for on-site operations. Throughout the shift, the technician performs rigorous daily, weekly, and monthly calibrations on gas detection equipment and verifies that all Cascade Air Banks are charged and online. A key focus is ensuring that 5, 10, and 30-minute SCBA units are fully functional and charged.
Documentation is a daily requirement, including the completion of Job Safety Analyses (JSA), sign-in sheets, field tickets, and time sheets, as well as all Ampro and customer-specific documentation. The role also involves maintaining a clean and orderly work area, keeping respiration masks sanitized, and performing basic maintenance on assigned vehicles and trailers. Depending on operational needs, the technician may assist with the inspection, cleaning, servicing, and testing of shop equipment, manifolds, regulators, and hoses, while also managing inventory and staging equipment for upcoming jobs.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record that meets our insurance provider's standards. The selection process prioritizes safety compliance and technical proficiency in H2S environments.
