This position serves as a vital support to the Jackson County maintenance team, assisting crew members with facility repairs and grounds upkeep. The role is essential for ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of county buildings, roads, and parks. You will work as part of a dedicated team to handle a wide range of maintenance tasks, from routine preventative care to emergency response during inclement weather.
Your day will involve operating a variety of power and hand tools, including drills, grinders, and compressors, as well as grounds equipment like mowers and tractors. You will assist with diverse repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and masonry. Beyond standard building maintenance, you will play a key role in emergency management logistics, such as snow plowing and salting roads and properties during severe weather. Additionally, you will contribute to the beautification of county facilities for special events.
Applicants must be 18 years or older and possess a valid North Carolina driver's license at the time of hire.
