About the Role
We are seeking a Fuel Equipment Design Engineer to take ownership of the design and execution of natural gas delivery and combustion systems for industrial and utility-scale boiler projects. This position sits at the center of fuel system engineering, focusing on low NOx combustion technology for wall-fired and T-fired boilers.
In this role, you will lead projects from concept through commissioning, collaborating closely with internal teams, customers, and field service groups to deliver safe, efficient, and performance-driven fuel systems. You will develop deep expertise in combustion and fuel system design while supporting proposals, sales efforts, and technical presentations to the broader power generation community.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleDesign and select equipment such as gas filtration units, pressure reduction skids, and burners
- check_circleOwn technical execution for gas-fired boiler projects from concept through commissioning
- check_circleSupport proposals and sales efforts with technical input, customer presentations, and estimates
- check_circleDevelop field test procedures and support commissioning, startup, and performance testing
- check_circleLead burner tuning and emissions optimization during field operations
- check_circleCreate and maintain engineering standards for system sizing and design consistency
- check_circleCollaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure design accuracy and compliance
- check_circlePresent technical work at industry events and engage with the combustion community
- check_circleLead engineering design for natural gas delivery systems including P&IDs and system layouts
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (Master's preferred)
- verified8+ years of experience in gas systems, combustion systems, or related industrial/utility engineering work
- verifiedWorking knowledge of ASME B31 piping codes and NFPA standards
- verifiedPE license preferred (or willingness to pursue)
Nice to Have
Master's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. Experience with wall-fired and/or T-fired boiler combustion systems. Exposure to field commissioning, startup, or operations. CFD experience. PE license or willingness to pursue one.
