About the Role
The Floral Assistant is an entry-level position designed to support the Floral Department Manager in delivering high-quality products within a clean and welcoming store environment. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of the floral department, ensuring customers receive outstanding service, and upholding company standards for product presentation and safety.
Day in the Life
As a Floral Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for customers, greeting and thanking every individual you encounter. Your day involves a dynamic mix of customer service and hands-on floral care. You will assist the manager with daily operational duties, including receiving delivery trucks, breaking down loads, and organizing products into coolers.
A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to product maintenance. This includes rotating stock to ensure freshness, utilizing markdown coupons to manage close-dated items, and arranging merchandising areas to promote sales on advertised or deal items. You will also be responsible for adhering to all company trim standards and policies, including proper dress code and name tag usage.
Physical Requirements
This position involves medium work that requires good corrected vision and hearing. The role demands the ability to stand and move between various workstations, as well as the physical capacity to lift, carry, push, and pull items. You must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 60 lbs. on occasion, exert 25-60 lbs. of force frequently, and handle 10-20 lbs. constantly. Additionally, the job requires dexterous use of both hands to operate knives and other sharp instruments for food preparation and product removal, as well as the ability to work on floors that may occasionally become slippery.
