Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed tertiary care facility located in Norfolk, VA. The Vascular and Interventional Center (VIC) is a specialized unit within the hospital dedicated to gastroenterology, pulmonary, vascular, neuro-interventional, and interventional radiology procedures. The Recovery Nurse plays a vital role in the care of patients undergoing complex procedures at the VIC. This position provides comprehensive post-procedure care, ensuring safe, high-quality outcomes through thorough assessments, clinical preparation, vigilant recovery monitoring, and patient education. The nurse will receive post-procedural patients, perform focused recovery assessments, monitor for complications such as bleeding or hemodynamic instability, and manage immediate recovery needs like pain and nausea. The role also involves providing tailored discharge instructions and facilitating safe, timely discharge or admission based on patient status.
This is a Flexi position with a schedule of one shift per pay period. Shifts rotate within unit hours (08:00 to 21:00, Monday through Friday). The role includes a call requirement of one weekend every 7–8 weeks from 07:30 to 15:00.
