Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed tertiary care facility located in Norfolk, VA. It serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School and is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads. As a recognized Magnet hospital for nursing excellence and a Comprehensive Stroke Center, the facility specializes in heart and vascular care, neurosciences, oncology, and advanced imaging.
The Vascular and Interventional Center (VIC) is a specialized unit within the hospital dedicated to gastroenterology, pulmonary, vascular, neuro-interventional, and interventional radiology procedures. About the Role
The Recovery Nurse plays a vital role in the care of patients undergoing complex procedures at the VIC. This position provides comprehensive post-procedure care, ensuring safe, high-quality outcomes through thorough assessments, clinical preparation, vigilant recovery monitoring, and patient education. The nurse will receive post-procedural patients, perform focused recovery assessments, monitor for complications such as bleeding or hemodynamic instability, and manage immediate recovery needs like pain and nausea. The role also involves providing tailored discharge instructions and facilitating safe, timely discharge or admission based on patient status.
This is a Flexi position with a schedule of one shift per pay period. Shifts rotate within unit hours (08:00 to 21:00, Monday through Friday). The role includes a call requirement of one weekend every 7–8 weeks from 07:30 to 15:00.

Requirements
- verifiedCurrent RN license in Virginia
- verifiedBLS certification (AHA-approved)
- verifiedACLS certification (AHA-approved)
- verifiedAt least 1 year of experience in PACU, ICU, ED, or procedural recovery nursing
Nice to Have
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Experience in Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, or procedural prep/recovery. EPIC EMR proficiency.
